Gonzalo Carabajal

Gonzalo Carabajal was an General, Mayor of the province of Buenos Aires and Lieutenant General of Santa Fe during Viceroyalty of Peru.
== Biography ==

Born in Ciudad de los Reyes, Lima, Perú, son of the Spanish Pedro López Valero and María de Carabajal, he was married to María Salas daughter of Francisco de Salas Reynoso and Leonor Correa. The Capt. Gonzalo Carabajal colleague of Hernandarias de Saavedra, also met to command an armed contingent against Indians, to help of Juan de Garay, son of the founder, in the city of Corrientes, the mission was a failure and Carabajal, had to retire with his men. He fulfilled roles and expeditions in almost all provinces as Salta, Corrientes, Santa Fe. In 1612 he was appointed Faithful Executor of the Cabildo of Buenos Aires. And then in 1628 was appointed Mayor of Buenos Aires, and on November 9, 1631, he was appointed Judge Campaign. Gonzalo Carabajal was appointed Lieutenant General of Santa Fe and General of Buenos Aires.
Also owned one of the first pulpería in the Río de la Plata, where the government withdrew the permit admission to black people in their establishment.
He also fulfilled the functions of Treasurer, Judge, Council and Royal Official in the Río de la Plata.
